{"id":711,"date":"2014-05-06T13:43:19","date_gmt":"2014-05-06T21:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/polkstreetgazette.com\/?p=711"},"modified":"2014-05-06T13:43:19","modified_gmt":"2014-05-06T21:43:19","slug":"police-blotter-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/polkstreetgazette.com\/?p=711","title":{"rendered":"Police Blotter."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Warrant Arrest, 4\/27\/14 \u00a010:32 Pm Webster\/Post<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers responded to a citizen complaint of a male subject carving into a tree with a large knife.\u00a0 Officers arrived and spoke to the subject.\u00a0\u00a0 The subject was holding a laptop computer.\u00a0 A pat search for weapons revealed a 15\u201d knife in a sheath attached to his beltline.\u00a0 The officers asked the male what he was doing with the knife and he said that he was \u201cjust outside playing the flute\u201d.\u00a0 The subject told the officers that the laptop belonged to him.\u00a0 They asked him where he bought it, and he responded that he found it.\u00a0 He changed his story and said that a school janitor gave him the computer.\u00a0 Officers attempted to locate the rightful owner; with negative results.\u00a0 The officers ran a computer check on the subject and discovered numerous outstanding warrants totaling several thousand dollars.\u00a0 He was booked at Northern Station. They were not able to locate the 911 caller, laptop owner, or any damage to the trees in the area.\u00a0 The laptop was booked into evidence, property for safekeeping.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Stolen Vehicle Arrest, 4\/23\/14\u00a0 6:29 Pm McAllister\/Polk<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers on uniformed patrol were driving in the above area.\u00a0 They noticed a gray Scion and ran a records check on the plate.\u00a0 The Scion returned as a reported stolen vehicle.\u00a0 The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.\u00a0 The driver exited the vehicle and was handcuffed.\u00a0 He gave the officers an incorrect name, and had no driver\u2019s license in his possession.\u00a0 The officers had to transport the subject to Northern Station and run a computer finger print check.\u00a0 This revealed his true name, and officers discovered several outstanding warrants for his arrest.\u00a0 He was booked at Northern Station.\u00a0 The owner of the vehicle was contacted and she came and took possession of her car.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Vandalism to Vehicle, Theft from Locked Vehicle Arrest, 4\/23\/14\u00a0 7:00 Pm 2400 Block of California St.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers responded to a parking lot in the above area.\u00a0 A caller had reported several males casing vehicles in the lot. They had already broken into one car and removed items.\u00a0 They were loading their getaway vehicle with loot.\u00a0 The caller was able provide suspect and vehicle descriptions, including the vehicle\u2019s license plate.\u00a0 The officers arrived as the subjects entered their car.\u00a0 They reclined the seats and got down low inside the car as if to avoid police detection.\u00a0 Additional officers responded to the scene.\u00a0 The caller notified the officers that they had the correct vehicle.\u00a0 All three subjects were detained, and their clothing matched descriptions provided by the caller.\u00a0 The caller positively identified all subjects.\u00a0 The caller had video footage of the suspects breaking into the cars, which he gave to the officers.\u00a0 The subjects were transported to, interviewed and booked at Northern Station.\u00a0 The officers were able to locate the victims and return their stolen property to them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Burglary, Apartment House, Unlawful Entry, 4\/21\/14\u00a0 3:00 Pm 1300 Block of Bush St.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers responded to call for service where a neighbor saw two subjects exiting his neighbor\u2019s house from the rear patio area.\u00a0 The caller actually confronted the two on the patio.\u00a0 When he asked which apartment do the subjects live in, they left the area. The caller watched as the subjects climbed through a parking garage in an attempt to flee the area.\u00a0 The caller advised the officers the subject description, and direction of travel. The officers caught up to, and detained the male subject.\u00a0 A search of him revealed an Ipad with a woman\u2019s name on it.\u00a0 Once both of the subjects were detained the officers located the apartment that was believed to be burglarized.\u00a0 The name associated with the apartment was the same as the name on the Ipad.\u00a0 Its rear sliding door was unlocked.\u00a0 Officers contacted the owner who responded to their home.\u00a0 The caller positively identified the subjects, and they were booked at county jail.\u00a0 Officers recovered all stolen items and returned them to the owner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Aggravated Assault Arrest, 4\/20\/14\u00a0 12:41 Pm\u00a0 1500 Block of California St.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers were called to the above area regarding a group of males involved in a large fist fight in the street. The fight seemed to stop and the group of combatants went back inside a nearby bar.\u00a0 The suspects left the bar just prior to police arrival.\u00a0 Police met with the victims.\u00a0 The main victim said that an individual approached him, and for no apparent reason punched him in the face.\u00a0 The victim fell to the ground and was hit in the head with a \u201chard object\u201d.\u00a0 Officers called for medical assistance for the victims.\u00a0 Officers in the area searched and found the main subject.\u00a0 He was identified by numerous witnesses.\u00a0 During the cold show, the subject\u2019s friends came back outside the bar and began to yell at the victim and police.\u00a0 All parties returned to Northern Station where they were interviewed and the subject was booked.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Carrying Concealed Weapon with a Felony Conviction, Traffic Violation, Probation Violation, Restraining Order Violation Arrest, 4\/20\/14\u00a0 5:40 Pm Franklin\/Greenwich<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers were on uniformed patrol.\u00a0 They were flagged down by a motorist that stated he had just been in an altercation with another male driver.\u00a0 The subject pointed a gun at the victim, and then drove off.\u00a0 The victim gave a description of the vehicle and subject.\u00a0 He said that he wanted to leave.\u00a0 A search for the subject began.\u00a0 Officers quickly caught up to the subject who had stopped a few blocks away.\u00a0 Officers spoke with the subject.\u00a0 The investigating officer saw an open bottle of beer and a white pill on the passenger\u2019s seat.\u00a0 The officer recognized through his training and experience that the pill was an oxycodone pill. The subject was removed from the vehicle.\u00a0 A sweep of the vehicle for weapons revealed a fully loaded, cocked, 45 caliber handgun under the driver\u2019s seat.\u00a0 The gun was secured and the felon transported to Northern Station where he was booked.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Store Burglary, Unlawful Entry, Conspiracy, Probation Violation, Warrant Arrest, 4\/20\/14\u00a0 2:15 Pm 1600 Block of Polk St.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers were called to a business regarding a cell phone theft.\u00a0 The caller said that a female subject stole one of the employee\u2019s phones from the counter.\u00a0 The phone\u2019s tracking system was working and officers were directed to a nearby address.\u00a0 Store employees had followed the subject and used the \u201ctrack my Iphone\u201d app.\u00a0 The employees were attempting to confront the subject as officers arrived.\u00a0 She was taken into custody.\u00a0 The victim told police that she just wanted the phone back and she wouldn\u2019t press charges for the theft.\u00a0 The subject told the victim that the phone was in her apartment.\u00a0 The subject let the officers in to attempt to find the phone, but it wasn\u2019t there.\u00a0 The subject said that her boyfriend may have the phone.\u00a0 Officers called the boyfriend who denied any involvement.\u00a0 The subject began to cry hysterically saying that she didn\u2019t want to go to jail on Easter.\u00a0 The officers broadcast the boyfriend\u2019s description to assisting units.\u00a0\u00a0 The victim told officers that they confronted the subject about taking the phone.\u00a0 The said that they know she took it, they watched her do it.\u00a0 The subject continued to deny involvement.\u00a0 The subject was booked at County Jail on the above charges.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Arrest, 4\/19\/14\u00a0 2:40 Am Washington\/Gough<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Uniformed officers on patrol came upon a vehicle which was stopped at a red light.\u00a0 After the second cycle of green to red they decided to check on the driver.\u00a0 The driver\u2019s head was tilted back and his eyes were closed.\u00a0 The vehicle\u2019s engine was still running.\u00a0 The subject woke up and the officers instructed him to turn off the engine and place the vehicle in park.\u00a0 The subject did so and stepped out of the car.\u00a0 Immediately the officers noticed an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage.\u00a0 The subject\u2019s eyes were bloodshot and his face was flushed and sweaty.\u00a0 The subject said that he did not have anything to drink tonight.\u00a0 Officers began their driving under the influence investigation.\u00a0 The officers asked the male what he had to drink and he said 3 beers.\u00a0 They demonstrated and instructed the subject on each sobriety test.\u00a0 He performed them unsatisfactorily.\u00a0 The officers asked the subject to write out the English alphabet on a sheet of paper.\u00a0 He wrote the vowels of the English alphabet.\u00a0 The officers arrested the male for the above charges, and booked him at Northern Station.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Aggravated Assault W\/ Other Weapon, Parole Violation Arrest, 4\/18\/14\u00a0 11:38 Am Herman\/Laguna<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers were called to a street fight with one subject armed with a pole. Officers caught up to the subjects.\u00a0 One subject was bleeding from a approx. 3\u201d wound above his left eyelid.\u00a0 He was treated and released by medics, refusing further medical treatment. The victim said that the subject hit him in the head with a pipe.\u00a0 He said he was struck so hard he flipped over a vehicle and fell on the ground.\u00a0 Several witnesses corroborated the story.\u00a0 The victim said that this was an argument over drug and money.\u00a0 The subject was transported to Northern Station where he was booked on the above charges.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Stolen Vehicle Arrest, 4\/16\/14\u00a0 4:40 Am\u00a0 Washington\/Van Ness<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officers on patrol were stopped at a traffic light. They ran a computer check on a motorcycle which was stopped nearby.\u00a0 The plate returned stolen.\u00a0 The officers exited the patrol car and were walking towards the subjects to speak to them.\u00a0 The female put her helmet on and jumped onto the back of the bike.\u00a0 The driver started the bike and drove off.\u00a0 Officers broadcast the incident to assisting officers.\u00a0 Officers were able to locate the bike a few blocks away.\u00a0 The female passenger left the bike and dropped her helmet, then attempted to walk away from the bike.\u00a0 The driver accidentally dropped the bike onto its side.\u00a0 As officers closed in on him, he attempted to pick up the motorcycle and start it to escape.\u00a0 He could not do it and officers quickly had him in handcuffs.\u00a0 The driver had a small bottle of suspected liquid heroin in his pocket.\u00a0 He complained of having pain to his knee and elbow from dropping the bike, prior to being arrested.\u00a0 Officers had the subject medically cleared.\u00a0 The driver said that his friend gave him the motorcycle and he was just having fun driving his girlfriend around the city.\u00a0 Officers contacted the rightful owner of the bike, who told them that bike had been stolen her several days ago.\u00a0 Officers inspected the motorcycle and discovered that the ignition had been punched.\u00a0 The motorcycle was returned to its owner.\u00a0 The drugs were processed and later booked into evidence.\u00a0 The subjects were booked at County Jail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Northern Station Newsletter<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Captain Greg McEachern<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: blue;
