Lower Polk Live! Free Polk Street Block Party October 23, 2026

Polk Street Comes Alive This Friday With Free Music, Dancing, and a Neighborhood Block Party

Two blocks of Lower Polk will transform into an open-air celebration this Friday, October 23, bringing live performances, local artists, DJs, and plenty of neighborhood spirit to the heart of San Francisco.

SAN FRANCISCO — If you’re looking for a fun way to kick off your weekend without spending a dime, Lower Polk has something special planned.

On Friday, October 23, from 4 PM to 9 PM, two blocks of Polk Street, between Bush and Sutter Streets, will be closed to traffic and opened up for Lower Polk Live!, a free community block party celebrating local music, creativity, and the neighborhood’s vibrant culture.

Whether you’re a longtime resident, a regular visitor to Polk Street, or simply looking for something different to do on a Friday evening, this event promises a lively atmosphere with something for everyone.

Local Music Takes Center Stage

Music will be at the heart of Friday’s festivities, with performances from Top Chefs, JP Breganza, and our very own Kendo the DJ providing the soundtrack to the evening.

For anyone curious about the art of DJing, Scratchfight will be on hand to introduce attendees to the world of turntables and mixing.

And if standing around listening to music isn’t your thing, there will be plenty of opportunities to get moving.

Westside Steppaz, a local dance group, will bring soul line dancing and stepping to the streets, encouraging festivalgoers to join in the fun.

Local artists will also be part of the celebration, adding another creative dimension to the festivities.

A Friday Night Out in One of San Francisco’s Liveliest Neighborhoods

Polk Street has long been a destination for San Franciscans looking for nightlife, entertainment, and a little neighborhood character.

The area is home to an eclectic mix of independent businesses, neighborhood watering holes, restaurants, and entertainment venues, all contributing to Lower Polk’s distinctive personality.

Friday’s block party offers the perfect opportunity to experience that atmosphere in a different setting, with the streets themselves becoming the entertainment venue.

And when the music wraps up at 9 PM, the evening doesn’t necessarily have to end.

For those 21 and older, neighborhood bars such as Deco Dance and Hi-Lo Club offer options to continue the night. Visitors can also explore the area’s many restaurants and independent businesses.

Bringing the Neighborhood Together

Lower Polk Live! is organized by the Lower Polk Community Benefit District, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting and improving the neighborhood through community events, beautification projects, cleanups, and other initiatives.

Events like this offer more than just free entertainment. They create opportunities for neighbors to connect, visitors to discover local businesses, and San Franciscans to experience the community spirit that makes the city’s neighborhoods unique.

Best of all, admission is completely free, and everyone is welcome, regardless of age.
