Pedestrian killed near Civic Center.

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a driver close to the city’s Civic Center area early this morning.

According to Officer Gordon Shyy of the SFPD, the pedestrian was struck walking along Golden Gate and Van Ness avenues at about 11 p.m. on Sunday by a driver traveling northbound on Van Ness.

The victim who was pronounced dead at the scene, appeared not to be in the crosswalk at the time of the accident.

“This accident is still under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the accident are
encouraged to call police! The victim has yet to be identified.
