House Rules on Polk.

First off I love the name, as someone in the industry (as most of you know by now) a good name is the first thing that stands out on any business but especially a bar &/or restaurant.

Nestled in what I like to refer as upper Polk, tis past Broadway after all, this Russian hill haunt looks like it will be a great addition to Polk streets entertainment both day & night life.

The menu designed by Chef Scott Youkilis of Hog and Rocks looks to me like good, very really pub grub, that being the food we can eat that allows us to have that extra drink with out the bartender telling us we’re cut off. Seriously folks, a good hearty meal during or before a night out can be the difference between a good night out & a really bad morning. Besides the menu looks more appealing & healthier than that slice of pizza you ate last night. (The menu can be found at the bottom of this article).

The drinks menu was designed by Fifty/Fifty Cocktail Co. — the consulting program from Anderson Pugash who just happens to own Palm House and Bergerac and Anthony Parks co owner of the same consulting firm. From experience I for one will be looking forward to tasting one (probably a few) of their concoctions.

As a frequent visitor to the Buc, Cabin, Shanghai Kelly’s, the Bell Tower, Tonic, Bullit to name but a few this venue is perfectly located, making upper Polk a new powerhouse in the night life scene, lower Polk currently has that distinction, but dare I say it, it is a little bit less messy the further up Polk you go, lets just say, more refined. Location in this business is everything and this fellow patrons is a great location. The more good watering holes you put in one area the more visitors you attract.

I for one will be checking this place out in the coming days.

Oh, and thanks to Jamie Kopmann (ANDREW FREEMAN & CO) for sending those to me.

Named for its playful take on social etiquette, House Rules offers the Russian Hill neighborhood handcrafted cocktails, a bevy of draft and bottled brews, and classic American bar food with unique twists. From the team who brought the city Campus in the Marina and Eddie Rickenbacker’s in the Financial District, Rick Howard and Noelle Calixto add yet another sophisticated bar program to their list of establishments. House Rules has teamed up with Chef Scott Youkilis to bring delicious bar bites to the menu and Fifty Fifty Cocktail Co. to craft the cocktail program.

Here’s a look at the menu’s.
